How We Are Improving Our Environmental Performance

Introduction

Ribbonworks Ltd is committed to providing a quality service in a manner that ensures a safe and healthy workplace for our employees, and we minimise our potential impact on the environment at all times.

We will operate in compliance with all relevant environmental legislation, and we will strive to use pollution prevention and environmental best practices in all we do.

We will:

  • Integrate the consideration of environmental concerns and impacts in all of our decision making and services;
  • Promote environmental awareness among our employees, and encourage them to work in an environmentally responsible manner;
  • Maintain an environmentally aware workforce by training, educating and informing our employees about environmental issues that may affect their work;
  • Reduce waste through re-use and recycling and by purchasing recycled, recyclable or refurbished products and materials where these alternatives are available, economical and suitable;
  • Promote efficient use of materials and resources throughout our offices and sites including water, electricity, raw materials and other resources, particularly those that are non-renewable;
  • Avoid unnecessary use of hazardous materials and products, seek substitutions when feasible, and take all reasonable steps to protect human health and the environment when such materials must be used, stored and disposed of;
  • Purchase and use environmentally responsible products accordingly;
  • Develop and maintain appropriate emergency and spill response programmes;
  • Communicate our environmental commitment to clients, customers and the public and encourage them to support it;
  • Strive to continually improve our environmental performance and minimise the social impact and damage of activities by periodically reviewing our environmental policy in light of our current and planned future activities;
  • Ensure our operations are carried out in accordance with our compliance obligations;
  • Ensure our decision-making processes are aware of our environmental impact;
  • Embed an environmental mindset across the business by developing a culture of environmental responsibility and leadership amongst employees, sub-contractors and our supply chain;
  • Minimise waste generation and consumption of natural resources;
  • Identify and manage the impact of our significant environmental aspects, proportionate to risk;
  • Minimise pollution levels by avoiding unnecessary business travel, promoting the use of car share schemes, use of public transport where possible, and using online media where appropriate;
  • Comply with all applicable environment, energy and climate related legislation and regulations as a minimum, including prevention of pollution;
  • Define and implement action plans to deliver our targets, and make our carbon reduction plan publicly available;
  • Periodically review the environmental risks and opportunities associated with our operations;
  • Keep abreast of environmental best practice and collaborate with experts, peers and partners on environmental topics as appropriate;
  • Ensure that our supply chain partners support our sustainable commitments and have policy and management tools in place to do so.

Responsibilities for Environmental Impact

The overall and final responsibility for our environmental impact lies with the Managing Director, and the day-to-day responsibility for ensuring this policy is put into practice is the responsibility of the wider Management Team.

All employees should:

  • Co-operate with other employees on environmental matters;
  • Report all environmental concerns to an appropriate person.
