Social media advertising can be very powerful, particularly if you have a celebrity endorsing your products. However, this type of advertising can be very costly. Captiv8, the San Francisco-based talent agency, stated that some influential social media names could charge up to $187,000 for a sponsored video on YouTube.

Those with a following of between three and seven million people are charging around $75,000 for a post on Instagram and around $30,000 for a Twitter advert.

Even those with follower numbers ranging from 50,000 to 500,000 can make a living from sponsored videos and posts, with an average of $2,500 for a YouTube ad and $1,000 for a post on Instagram.

Cheaper Advertising

With the cost of social media advertising running into the tens of thousands, it would make sense for small- to medium-sized businesses to look at alternatives that are less detrimental to their bank balance.
